I am a UKCP registered Psychotherapist and Counsellor and, as an Anthroposophic Nurse Specialist, co-facilitator of a health care training course in ‘Anthroposophic Approaches to Healing’. In my work I draw on experiences from a richly diverse background which has included nursing, midwifery, social anthropology and living for many years in intentional communities (Camphill) with people with special needs. My professional approach is informed by Assagioli’s Psychosynthesis, Davanloo’s ISTDP and Steiner’s Anthroposophy.
I have been a Physiotherapist/ Rhythmical Massage therapist for 30 years and have worked in different therapeutic settings, both in the Netherlands (where I was born), in the UK (where I have lived since 20 years) and abroad. It has always been my aim to integrate mainstream and complementary medicine where possible. I am working from an holistic perspective; my inspiration is rooted in anthroposophic medicine and its understanding of the human being.
I work as a counsellor with individuals, couples and families, as well as supervising trainees and experienced counsellors. My background includes counselling and supervision with CRUSE Bereavement Care and the hospice movement. I've also counselled in a number of primary-care settings I have facilitated drama therapy with individuals and groups. My original training was in teaching.
I am a Healthcare Practitioner with many experience offering a wide range of therapies, which can be adapted to the needs of each client. My main concern is the care and treatment of the physical body. I also seek to enable the body's self-healing forces to become active.
